Special Edition Tin Whistle

Simply The Finest.

The first Clarke Tinwhistle was invented by Robert Clarke in 1843 in a tiny village, Coney Weston, near Bury St. Edmunds, in England.

Clarke set up his factory in a shed and soon became a successful manufacturer, creating the first of the tin whistles that we know and love today.

To celebrate Robert Clarke’s 200th birthday, we have created a stunning silver and gold special edition tin whistle which sounds just as great as it looks.

A Special Anniversary Edition Product

This is a special anniversary edition of the Clarke Original Tinwhistle to commemorate the birth of Robert Clarke in 1816.

It has the same conical body as the Clarke original, but in silver with a gold coloured medallion near the top of the whistle.

Clarke’s Original Tinwhistle is still produced in essentially the same way as Clarke’s first whistle made in 1843.

It has a tapered metal bore to bring the finger holes closer together and to increase the range and make the whistle more accurate in the upper registers.

The sound is difficult to describe in words, when comparing it to a plastic top whistle, but most people would say it is more musical, mellower, and has a little more character.

I received this whistle as a gift for Christmas. I played it out of the box and was easy to learn. I loved the tone the metallic whistle made. It was easy to learn with the fingering chart. I learned to play in one day because I played the fiddle and looked for a portable Irish trad instrument. I was also impressed with the quality of the package I received it in. The package looked to be simple cardboard with a background of the family owned company’s beginning history. And I loved the story about whistling billy. Overall I can’t see a reason to complain about this product!
